While both animals a small antelopes, their facial markings, ear size, and behaviour set them apart. Steenbuck are redish brown and have large, 'satellite dish' ears, and no facial markings. Duikers however, have a distinct grey brown coat with black stripe running down their nose bridge, and a short shaggy tuft of hair on their head.
Steenbuck can live up to 12 years in the wild, which is surprisingly long for a small antelope.
Steenbuck inhabit grasslands and open savannas, typically found in eastern and southern Africa. Steenbuck populations are particularly, abundant in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, and certain parts of Tanzania and Kenya.
