Splitting Image Taxidermy Cleans a Black Wildebeest

25 Jul 2018

Warrick shows us how to clean a Black Wildebeest Trophy using your Splitting Image Taxidermy Cleaning Kit

Take the penetrating oil and spray the horns lightly. The reason for doing this is to stop the horns from cracking and drying out. A light covering will do the job.

Once you have sprayed the horns, take the small wire brush and brush the horns to spread the oil evenly across each horn ensuring that they don’t dry out.

Once you’re happy with the result, take the horse brush that you would have received in your Splitting Image Taxidermy Trophy Cleaning Kit and brush down along the body, ensuring to remove any dust. Make sure to brush in the direction of the hair on the face and along the body.

Once you’re done brushing the hair, use the microfiber cloth to clean around the eyes and around the nose. If you feel that there is too much oil on the horns, use the microfiber cloth to wipe it down to get rid of any shine that may be left over.

If your trophies are too high to reach and you’re only able to clean them with the penetrating oil once or twice a year, make use of your microfiber duster that is included in the Splitting Image Taxidermy Trophy Cleaning Kit , and just give the horns a light clean to remove dust and debris that may be on them.

It is important to keep a cleaning routine to maintain the quality of your trophy. Make sure to use the USB that is included in the Splitting Image Taxidermy Trophy Cleaning Kit, so that we can help you maintain your trophies for a lifetime.
