The Mountain Nyala is a rare beauty and found in high altitude regions in Ethiopia. They are a large species, closer in size to a Kudu than a Nyala. These animals create a very challenging hunt, not only because they are intelligent but because of the mountainous terrain they live in.
Consider a full mount to showcase its size, unique stripes and markings and beautiful horns.
Mountain nyalas are selective herbivore browsers. The prefer to feed on young buds, fruits, and woody plants.
Mountain nyala can live up to 20 years in the wild.
The gestation period of nyala is typically 8-9 months, with females giving birth to single calves.
Only males in this species have horns, therefore trophy nyala refer to males with horns that are parallel at the top, and curve neatly to create a bell shape. A trophy is often considered to be a mature male past breeding age.
